A Visit from City Councilor Mark Ciommo

Ciommo and DL

City Councilor Mark Ciommo, who represents Allston/Brighton visited the school Wednesday morning for an update from Head of School Diana Lam about our plans for expansion and facilities.  He pledged to help us in his role as chair of the Ways and Means Committee of the City Council to navigate the permitting process of city hall and as an advocate for quality education in his district.  He has been to the school several times in the past and was hugely impressed by the learning and focus he saw as he visited classrooms.  He spoke to 2nd graders about their non-fiction reading and watched K2 rehearse the new song they are composing about nutrition.  As a parent of a student musician himself, his son attended St. Paul’s Choir School in Cambridge and now sings a capella as a sophomore at Harvard University, Councilor Ciommo knows the important role music can play in a well-rounded education.  We are grateful for his support!
