Current Events in Middle School Science

scienceblog1

In Mr. Nieminski’s science class, middle school students present current events each Friday. They must choose a topic, which they are truly passionate about, that deepens the class’s understanding of the topic of study that week. This past week, for example, they studied the solar system and students have chosen topics in the news–from black holes, red moons, to the possibility of life on Mars–and have presented to the class.

As they covered the order of the solar system, the students were able to fill in the holes themselves. Students will be asked to present four times over the course of the school year so they will have opportunities to improve their presentation skills as well.  Science is a hands on, student centered class, and this is one of the many ways we will learn this year.
