Mr. “A” Solos in Seoul

Mr. A
Adrian Anantawan, maestro of the Dudamel orchestra, traveled to Seoul, South Korea last week to perform with the Suwon Philharmonic. His performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto was received with great enthusiasm, headlining a concert which also included Finlandia and a symphony by Shostakovich.

Anantawan reflected on the challenges of rehearsing with musicians whose only common language is music, “I wasn’t able to speak to them, but we shared in a joint experience that left us understanding each other in some way.”

Students were excited to hear of Anantawan’s travels, particularly that the concert had featured their own beloved Finlandia. They were also impressed that he had been to Gangnam, the city whose style is celebrated in the popular YouTube Video.
