Born to immigrants from El Salvador, Félix Chinchilla was raised in Los Angeles, CA, and the first in his family to graduate high school and attend college. After attending UC Berkeley, he worked as a math and science teacher in the Bay Area for 8 years. His work there ignited a commitment to educational equity through student-centered classrooms. This commitment drove him to earn his MA and Administrator’s License from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. At CLCS, he looks forward to bringing a passion for inquiry and collaboration to further strengthen academic programs and supports for all students. Mr. Chinchilla has also been a lifelong musician, first learning to play the saxophone in middle school, and later, the guitar in high school. He cannot think of a better experience for a student than to attend a school that bridges the art and academic worlds. Outside of school, Mr. Chinchilla can be found cooking, running, cycling, and reading.
