Jessie was born and raised in Northern California, where she spent her childhood watching birds and studying plants with her scientist parents. In 2009 she earned her BA in Biology from Carleton College, Minnesota, an endeavor that took her from scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef to studying bees in the rainforest of Costa Rica. She soon realized that while she loved research, her true passion was sharing her love of science with young people. She earned her MA in Teaching from the University of San Francisco and taught 6th grade math and science for two years before she traveled for 8 months through Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Colombia by bus. She is excited to join the team at Conservatory Lab and design innovative, inquiry-based learning expeditions. When she’s not teaching, Jessie enjoys riding her bicycle, hiking, drawing, singing, and knitting.
