Kathleen Jara is a violinist and educator in the Boston area who has worked in diverse and intensive schools for the past 7 years. She started violin at age 6 and fell in love with the joy of collaborative music in high school. After studying music performance at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, she moved to Peru, her home country, and initiated a small orchestral program in Tacna, built into a Habitat for Humanity community. After serving as director, teacher, performer and arranger in that community for almost 3 years, she moved back to the U.S. to pursue her Master’s degree in Performance at The Boston Conservatory. She has played in many local orchestras and ensembles, and after graduating also began to teach at the Conservatory Lab Charter School. This will be her 6th year working at the school and she is excited to return to her amazing students and incredible team of musicians and teachers.
