Youngest Musicians Perform in Spring Concert I

unnamedSpring Concert I was held on June 11th and presented students in K-1 thru 2nd grade and was a wonderful demonstration of the sequence and progression which our students follow.  We witnessed 4 yr. olds singing in unison, 5 year olds singing rounds in multiple part harmony,  1st graders playing with their bows on their real (no longer paper!) instruments after only six weeks having them and the 2nd graders playing the Theme from Beethoven’s 5th as an orchestra!

Songs selected for these students were all from the pentatonic American Folk Songbook which helps students begin to understand musical intervals which are the stepping stones to western classical harmony.

The Benjamin Franklin Institute was packed to the rafters with beaming parents who were delighted and amazed at the skills and musicianship that their children demonstrated at this concert.
