Cross Country Makes Historic Debut

Our first ever Cross Country team came out in full force to compete in our meet! The MCSAO Invitational, a qualifier for states, was held at Franklin Park on the national course. Over 25 schools from across the league were in attendance, including your Conservatory Lab Coyotes.

A girls team made up of: Princess, Aaliyah, Zahria, Seoule, Maya, Aniaja, and Khani, competed first in a highly competitive race. The girls never gave up throughout the grueling course and despite not finishing in medal contention, still qualified for the state championships in November.

The Boys team: Alhaji, Micah, Jackson, and Cayden, had an outstanding race just missing out on a place position in a field of over 100. They too qualified for the states in November.

Although the official times and results have not been published at the time of writing unofficial personal bests were made by each of the runners. They also showed incredible team spirit, helping each other during the race to spur each other onto the finish line. However an awesome mention for the girls team who, after finishing their race, ran back to certain parts of the course to cheer on the boys as they competed.

The Cross Country team was outstanding and with passionate students, the future of the program is very bright.
