Update on Staffing from Ms. Bradeen, Our Principal

We have made it through January! Thank you for your patience and support as we plow through this winter!

I wanted to follow-up to the message I sent prior to break regarding student support and staffing. Based on data, feedback, and observed needs, we have almost completed our plan to strengthen the student support infrastructure.

Most recently, we have hired two new 3rd grade teachers: Sarah Gurvis and Mary Griswold. Both teachers have experiences teaching 3rd grade and working with Responsive Classroom, Lucy Calkins  as well as other creative curricula.  These two teachers will be supported by Jenna Gampel, Master Teacher.

We are equally excited about our talented interventionists and Learning Specialists.  Jennifer Payne will continue to support 2nd grade along with newly hired Donna Li, who is working towards her advanced degree in education.  In 3rd grade, Becky McCarthy will continue to support both 3rd grade classrooms until we hire another interventionist.  In 4th grade, Jordan Kelly and Tory Small will support the classrooms. Both have backgrounds in education and athletics!  Nirith Avraham will also continue to support the lower grades as a Learning Specialist.  In 5th grade, newly hired Learning Specialist, Denita Murphy, will support 5th graders and some 3rd graders. Denita brings a wealth of experience as a math, science, and STEAM teacher. Kaleigh Jacobson (Coach Kay) will continue to support 5th grade in collaboration with Kendal Cramer our 5th and 6th grade Learning Specialist. Jessica Shank, middle school Learning Specialist, will continue to support students in collaboration with Sean Earle, middle school interventionist.  We are also hiring an additional middle school interventionist.

After we hire the additional interventionist, Conservatory Lab will have two adults in each classroom for the majority of the day in grades 2-5 and 1.5 adults in each of the middle school classrooms.  We are very excited about our new staff and look forward to strategically training them to intervene on an academic and social-emotional level.

We are committed to doing everything that is possible to strengthen the infrastructure of student support and to ensure that each student experiences success.  Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. We will continue to update you as we complete the hiring process.

Ms. Bradeen
